President Barack Obama recently made headlines for his trip up to Alaska as part of his agenda to highlight the need for action on climate change. Part of that visit included appearing on Running Wild with Bear Grylls. Today had an exclusive first look. Amongst the highlights is what Grylls gave President Obama to eat. The host explained, "Now this is for real, I found [salmon] on the riverbank, ok, so don't freak out too much. But this is half-eaten by a bear." President Obama asked, "Now why wouldn't a bear finish this sucker? This looks like a nice looking piece of fish," to which Grylls repiled, "Yeah but if you notice what they've had is all the high-fat content. The eggs, a little bit of the skin. They'll often take the brain as well." After sampling it, the president remarked, "Bear's a mediocre cook, but the fact that we ate something recognizable was encouraging. Now, the fact that he told me this was a leftover fish from a bear, I don't know if that was necessary. He could have just left that out." President Obama wasn't just eating fish, though, he pointed out why he was there, telling Grylls, "You know, one of the main purposes of our trip here is to highlight the effects of climate change and what's happening to the planet...I've got two daughters and I don't want grandkids too soon, but eventually I hope to have some. I want to make sure this is there for them, not just for us."
