‘Dead Poets Society’ Inspires Real-Life ‘Goldberg’ to Become a Doctor

The Goldbergs is based on the real-life experiences of Adam Goldberg and his family. And after watching Dead Poets Society, Adam’s mom, Beverly, based her substitute teaching on Robin Williams’s character. Wednesday’s episode of The Goldbergs started off with Beverly watching Dead Poets Society and being inspired to inspire her students. So when she got to class the next day, Beverly had all of the kids, including her son Barry, stand up on her desk. Although, the plan fell short when one of the students fell through the desk. While Barry was initially embarrassed by his mother’s antics, in the end, Beverly’s Robin Williams impression inspired her son to be a better student. And real-life Barry Goldberg made his mom’s dreams come true by becoming a real-life doctor. Every show ends with actual footage from the real Goldberg family’s home movies, and this episode showed Barry graduating and on his way to medical school.
