Chris Pratt Reveals He Spent Thousands of Dollars to Be in 2003 Cult Classic Film

He may be a big action star making big bucks, but according to Chris Pratt, there was a time when being in a movie cost him money. Pratt was on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to promote his latest movie, The Magnificent Seven, but Colbert had worked with the actor 13 years ago in the movie Strangers With Candy, starring Amy Sedaris. The movie was shot out east in New York and they were only casting local actors. Pratt, who lived in Los Angeles, wanted to be in the movie so badly, that he flew out to New York on his own dime, putting himself up in hotels, and then sleeping on friends’ couches, pretending to live in New York to do the role. Since he was getting paid to be in the movie, Pratt said he would have broken even, if it wasn’t for an emergency trip back to Los Angeles to pay for an insurance ticket he got that he never paid for.
