Javier Bardem
Javier Bardem, don't bother. Celebrities who reach a level of stardom get bombarded with pitches and scripts. Then there are the high-profile directors with whom actors would give up half a lung to work. The Spanish actor and three-time Oscar nominee Javier Bardem told Canwest he nearly had a heart attack when he received a phone call from Woody Allen. The exchange, Bardem described, went something like: "Is this Woody Allen?" "Yes, it's Woody Allen. I have this script, would you be interested in reading it?" There was only one answer to that, and Allen thanked Bardem and hung up. After receiving the script for "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" (2008), Bardem called, a bit nervous over the dialogue required. After telling Allen the script looked "good" and he had some questions, the director replied that shooting would begin in a month and hung up. Both calls lasted under two minutes.
