Zeta Preps ‘Anacleto’

Spain’s Javier Ruiz Caldera, whose “Ghost Graduation” was picked up by Fox for North and Latin America, will direct inept spy action-comedy “Anacleto Secret Agent,” produced by Francisco Ramos at Spain’s Zeta Cinema.

The bigscreen makeover of a beloved Spanish cartoon is described by Ramos as “a kind of Spanish “Austin Powers.”

Zeta Cinema will also produce “Mostoles no es lo que parece, o la importancia de llamarse Encarna,” a dramedy toplining Carmen Ruiz and Carmen Castano from helmer Vicente Villanueva (“The Opposite of Love”).

Backed by the Zeta Group, a publishing conglom, Zeta is one of the few shingles putting substantial movies into production in Spain.

Its current slate also includes Mario Casas starrer “Ismael,” helmer Javier Fesser’s 3D toon “Mortadelo y Filemon contra Jimmy el Cachondo” and, first up, the Film Factory-sold live action “Zip & Zap and the Marble Gang,” Oskar Santos’ family comedy set for release Oct. 14 via BVI.
