‘Z: The Beginning Of Everything’: Amazon Drama Gets Debut Date & Jazz Age Trailer

EXCLUSIVE: No couple epitomized the rebellion and the glamour of the Jazz Age like F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda Fitzgerald, and now the Amazon series about their tumultuous romance and life has a launch date and a new trailer.

A peek at the Christina Ricci-starring Z: The Beginning of Everything can be seen above, and the 10-episode first season can all be seen in its entirety starting January 27.

With American Crime alum David Hoflin as The Great Gatsby author, Z follows the pair from their first meeting in Montgomery, AL, in 1918 and all the way to the top of the literary and social circles of NYC and Paris and seemingly everywhere in between – with a lot of style, a lot of booze and no small degree of emotional explosions.

Having first made its pilot debut back on November 4, 2015, the series created by Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin snared a series pickup just over year ago. If you’ve seen the Tim Blake Nelson-directed pilot, you’ll know that Z aims to take the former Zelda Sayre out of the shadow of her husband and show the artistic and destructive force she was unto herself — a creative force that F. Scott more than liberally lifted from for his own works. If you haven’t seen the pilot, you can watch it right now on Amazon Prime before the rest of the series starts next year.

Besides Ricci as Zelda and Hoflin as F. Scott, Z also features David Strathairn as Zelda’s father plus Corey Cott, Jordan Dean, Jamie Anne Allman, Natalie Knepp, Christina Bennett Lind and Holly Curran. Prestwich and Yorkin serve as EPs on Z along with Ricci, Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler.
