What to Stream: Three Back-to-School Movies

As the kids get ready to return to class, why not show them some movies that feature people doing the same? Real school won’t be as fun — but that’s their problem, not yours! Celebrate the fact that your time being a student is over and stream these three back-to-school movies.

Grease:

Our first film has a groove, it has a meaning. It’s the time, the place, and, unsurprisingly, the motion. What’s the word, the word that in a moment you will have heard? Grease! Grease is the word. Intertwined with the fun musical performances from babyfaced John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John is a story about students returning to class after a meaningful summer romance. Let the movie tell you more, tell you more. Grease is available to rent on Amazon Prime.

Easy A:

Up next is a film that’s based on a classic piece of literature, Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter. Emma Stone had a critically acclaimed turn as high schooler Olive Penderghast, a girl who allows guys to say they slept with her for a fee. Stone wound up being nominated for a Golden Globe for her effort. Easy A is available to rent on iTunes.

Back to School:

And finally, did you really think we were going to do a back-to-school collection of movies and not name the most obvious title of them all? R.I.P.D.! Just kidding, Back to School is our last recommendation, obviously. The legend himself, Rodney Dangerfield, stars as a wealthy father who starts attending his son’s college to encourage him and winds up getting wrapped up in the college lifestyle. Keep an eye out for a young Robert Downey Jr.! Back to School is available to rent on YouTube.
