Fast national ratings give Fox a victory in adults 18-49 (a 3.9 rating) and total viewers (11.2 million) on Thursday night, with American Idol adopting its one-hour format after last week's debut in the slot. The competition was down half of a point from last Thursday's two-hour showing for a 5.1 rating among 18-49-ers. Glee returned at 9 p.m., posting 35 percent growth from its previous original, rising to a 2.7 adults rating from a 2.0 in December. It was the series' best showing since the second episode of the season.
CBS and ABC again tied in the demo (an average of 2.0 in the adults rating for the night), with the former's block of encores leading in total viewers (9.3 million viewers).

On ABC, a the series finale of Last Resort (1.2 adults) rose two-tenths of a point before a steady Grey's Anatomy (3.0 adults). Adding an encore of Scandal, the network averaged 6.7 million viewers for the night.
The penultimate episode of 30 Rock was up a tenth of a point on NBC (1.4 adults) before Parks and Recreation (1.7 adults) and The Office (2.0 adults) fell a one- and two-tenths of a point. respectively. 1600 Penn was up a tenth of a point for a 1.3 adults rating. Rock Center With Brian Williams (0.8 adults), in its final Thursday broadcast before heading to Fridays, was down three-tenths of a point to match a season low. The network averaged a 1.3 rating in adults 18-49 and 3.8 million viewers.

The Vampire Diaries (1.3 adults) on The CW was down a tenth of a point from last week, while Beauty and the Beast (0.7 adults) was up one-tenth from its previous original. The network averaged a 1.0 adults rating and 2.3 million viewers.
Univision averaged a 1.6 rating in adults 18-49 and 4 million viewers.
