Tom Hanks is set star in the film adaptation of Dave Eggers’ novel “Hologram For the King” with his “Cloud Atlas”director Tom Tykwer helming.
X Filme Creative Pool producers Stefan Arndt, Uwe Schott and Tykwer are teaming up with Hanks and Gary Goetzman from Playtone to produce the movie.
The story is set in a rising Saudi Arabian city, far from weary, recession-scarred America, where a struggling businessman pursues a last-ditch attempt to stave off foreclosure, pay his daughter’s college tuition, and finally do something great.
The book was a New York Times bestseller and National Book Award finalist. CAA, which reps Hanks and Tykwer, is arranging financing for the project.
Hanks can be seen next in Sony’s “Captain Phillips” followed by Disney’s “Saving Mr. Banks.”
