Sony Pictures TV Inks Deal With French Paybox OCS
PARIS– French paybox Orange Cinema Series (OCS) has signed a multi-year with Sony Pictures Television (SPT) to gain exclusive first-window rights to the U.S. studio’s movies and TV series.
OCS, which is majority owned by French telco Orange, will have access to all of SPT’s recent feature
including “Elysium,” “White House Down,” “Captain Phillips” and “Equalizer.”
The deal also includes exclusive first-window rights to upcoming Sony releases like “Chappie” and Robert Zememkis’ “The Walk,” as well as popular series such as Golden Globe-winning”Transparent” and “Mozart in the Jungle.”
OCS has also snatched up exclusive premiere rights to the gritty crime drama “Powers,” which is an adaptation of the hit PlayStation game. The 10-part series will bow day and date in France on March 10.
Mike Wald, Executive Vice President, International Distribution for Sony Pictures Television said: “This new partnership with OCS
significant distribution of our world class film and TV content in one of our most important markets. We hope to expand this partnership to even greater levels in the near future.”

our position as a premium service – it is exactly the kind of content our subscribers love,” said Serge Laroye, prexy of OCS and executive VP of Orange’s content direction. “The partnership is also a reflection of both parties’
commitment to cinema.”
Launched in 2008, OCS has become a key purveyor of U.S. premium drama series, notably thanks to its output deal with HBO which gives OCS first-window rights to HBO shows such as “Game of Thrones.” Under French regulations, OCS also has to
a portion of its advertising revenues into French and European content. In 2013, the group committed to invest 179 million Euros over five years.
