Shannon Purser Joins Joey King In ‘Wish Upon’ For Broad Green Pictures

Stranger Things actress Shannon Purser has joined the cast of Broad Green PicturesWish Upon, which David Garrett’s Mister Smith Entertainment is selling at the American Film Market next week.

Purser joins Joey King (Oz The Great And Powerful, Independence Day: Resurgence) in the horror thriller title, which is currently in pre-production. John Leonetti is directing from a Black List script by Barbara Marshall. Busted Shark Productions’ Sherryl Clark (Cloverfield) produces.

In the film, 16-year-old misfit Claire (King) finds a magic box that promises a chance at the life she’s always wanted only to discover that each wish demands a deadly payment. King can be next seen in Zach Braff’s upcoming feature remake of the 1978 comedy Going In Style.

Purser, who will play the role of Claire’s friend June in Wish Upon, is known for her recent role as Barb in the premiere season of Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things.

Leonetti, who directed Annabelle, which made $256.9M worldwide for Warner Bros and New Line, was previously a cinematographer on The Conjuring and the first two Insidious movies.

Broad Green Pictures’ upcoming slate includes Bad Santa 2, a co-production with Miramax; Step Sisters; and Villa Capri. It’s also releasing Terrence Malick’s untitled project starring Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara and Michael Fassbender.

Mister Smith’s current slate includes the romantic drama Midnight Sun starring Bella Thorne, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Rob Riggle as well as Charles Stone III-directed Step Sisters and Buena Vista Social Club: Adios.

Purser is repped by People Store and Link Entertainment. King is repped by UTA. Leonetti is repped by CAA.
