Robert Downey Jr Got A HUGE Payday For Doing Just Two Marvel Movies

When two movies is enough to get you into the Forbes’ magazine celebrity rich list, you know it’s time to buy your agent that platinum Bentley with sable upholstery.

Even though he’s only made ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ and 'Captain America: Civil War’ in the past year, he’s still managed to haul in a staggering $80 million (£51 million).

That puts him at number eight in the business bible’s annual celebrity rich list (it’s topped by Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao with a somewhat dwarfing $300m and $160m respectively).

But he’s still streaks ahead of any other movie star on this year’s list.

The next nearest is Jennifer Lawrence down at number 32, who earned a paltry $52 million (£33.5 million) over the same period.

To say that Downey Jr has always been handsomely paid for his Marvel work is the very definition of understatement, particularly considering he’s not even the star of 'Captain America: Civil War’.

His vast $40 million fee for threequel 'Civil War’ – we’re not sure how much poor Chris Evans is getting paid, but IMDB lists his salary for the first 'Captain America’ movie in 2011 as just $300,000 (£193,000) – was just the latest in a long line of mind-blowingly huge pay days for Downey Jr.

He received $50 million (£32 million) each for both 'Avengers Assemble’ and 'Iron Man 3’.

He also gets cuts of the profits of all the Marvel films he appears in, and it’s said he’ll get an additional bonus if 'Civil War’ beats the box office target set by 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, which made $714 million (£460 million).

And he wasn’t even the star of that, either.
