RLJ Entertainment Makes Kurt Russell Western ‘Bone Tomahawk’ Its First Buy
Bob Johnson’s RLJ Entertainment has acquired all U.S. and Canada rights to Western “Bone Tomahawk,” starring Kurt Russell, the company announced Tuesday.
This is the first title acquisition under the RLJ Entertainment Brand, previously known as Image Entertainment.
Set in the small town of Bright Hope, the film follows a gun-slinging sheriff (Russell) who sets out to rescue settlers who have been kidnapped by cannibals.
S. Craig Zahler directs the film; producers include Caliber Media’s Dallas Sonnier, Jack Heller, and Gregory Zuk. Fyzz Facility’s Wayne Marc Godfrey, Robert Jones and David Gilbrey serve as executive producers.
“We are proud to be bringing this thrilling film to U.S. audiences this year,” said Ward. “With S. Craig Zahler’s uncompromising vision and the raw performances from the incredible cast, there is no doubt that ‘Bone Tomahawk’ will be an instant classic.”
The film will have a theatrical and VOD day-and-date release, according to a rep for RLJ.
The deal was negotiated by CAA, UTA and Caliber on behalf of the filmmakers and Mark Ward and Grace Santos on behalf of RLJ Entertainment.
