For Rent: Gianni Nunnari’s Malibu Pad

Much to the frequent surprise of the less financially fortunate, budget-conscious rich people sometimes opt to offset the exorbitant costs associated with the ownership of multiple multimillion dollar homes by leasing them out at high prices, often for short periods of time. Take for example an oceanfront residence in Malibu owned, per property records, by Italian film producer Gianni Nunnari, and available on the open market as an art-filled and fully furnished luxury rental at a bit under $60,000 per month.

Nunnari, whose credits include the high-profile movies “The Departed,” “300,” and “Shutter Island,” acquired the boxy, white-stucco contemporary in June of 2014 for $7.84 million, and first set it out for lease several months ago at $65,000 per month. Current listings indicate the approximately 4,600-square-foot beach house, near the end of a guard-gated cul-de-sac, has five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, a wind-protected courtyard entrance that links to a glass-ceilinged foyer, a loft-like living and dining room with head-on ocean views, and a sky-lit center-island kitchen. Both the main living area and the roomy, upper-level master suite open through broad expanses of floor-to-ceiling windows to slender, glass-railed terraces with sweeping ocean and coastline views.

Nunnari previously owned a 6,700-plus square-foot contemporary on a gated, 1.3-acre hilltop above Bel Air that was sold last year for almost $16.6 million, and property records reveal that just a few months ago, he dropped $3.85 million for a modern-minded Mediterranean that sidles up next to one of Brentwood’s busier boulevards.
