Ratings: CBS Leads Slow Easter Night With NCAA

On an Easter night that was marked by repeats and declines, CBS scored an overall win thanks to NCAA basketball coverage, according to preliminary numbers.

Networks were also competing with AMC's season finale of "The Walking Dead," the top-rated scripted show of the season. Its numbers were expected later Monday.

While CBS's numbers are approximate due to the nature of live sports, the network currently holds first place in ratings with a 2.5 rating/7 share in the advertiser-cherished 18-49 demographic, and in total viewers with 10.7 million. Overrun from NCAA basketball coupled with the beginning of "60 Minutes" from 7 to 8 p.m. drew a 4.2/13 with 15.7 million total viewers. The following hour, the conclusion of "60 Minutes" paired with the beginning of "The Amazing Race" scored a 2.4/7 with 10.5 million total viewers. The "Amazing Race" conclusion and the beginning of "The Good Wife" from 9 to 10 drew a 1.9/5 with 8.8 million total viewers, while the conclusion of "The Good Wife" coupled with a repeat of "The Mentalist" from 10 to 11 took a 1.3/3 with 7.7 million total viewers.

NBC took a distant second place in ratings and total viewers with a 1.1/3 and 4.6 million. The network aired repeats aside from "The Celebrity Apprentice" at 10, which slid 13 percent from last week to a season low of 1.6/4 and drew 4.6 million total viewers.

Fox, which ran repeats throughout the night, took third in ratings and fourth in total viewers with a 1.1/3 and 2.5 million.

ABC drew fourth place in ratings and third in total viewers with a 0.9/2 and 3.6 million. Following "It's the Easter Beagle Charlie Brown" (which had a 0.6/2 and and 2.5 million total viewers) and a repeat of "Once Upon a Time," "Revenge" at 9 dropped 17 percent from last week to a 1.5/3 and had 5.4 million total viewers. "Red Widow" at 10 also dropped 17 percent, tying a series low of 1.0/3 and taking 4.1 million total viewers.
