Paramount Titles to Distribute Through Toho-Towa in Japan

Paramount Pictures and Toho-Towa are to set up a joint company to handle the studio’s films in Japan.

The deal will take effect from Feb. 1, 2016 and will see Toho Towa distribute and market titles starting with “The Big Short,” starring Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt.

“We are honored to distribute films from Paramount Pictures through a new company under the Toho-Towa umbrella. We look forward to a long-term relationship,” said Tomohiko Hoshino, COO President of Toho-Towa.

“Toho-Towa has been a tremendous collaborator for us in the past, most recently with the huge success of ‘World War Z,’ and we are thrilled to be working with them on our future releases,” said Paramount’s co-president of International Theatrical Marketing & Distribution Mark Viane.

Toho-Towa, a subsidiary of the market leading Japanese studio, Toho, previously became the Japanese distributor for Universal in Japan, when UIP Japan was dissolved.in 2007.
