Nicole Sullivan Joins ‘Wendell & Vinnie’, Trio In ‘Finishing School’, ‘Crash’ Recasts Lead

MadTV alumna Nicole Sullivan is set to co-star opposite Jerry Trainor in the Nick at Nite comedy pilot Wendell & Vinnie. The multi-camera project, created by Jay Kogen (Frasier), centers on as Vinnie (Trainor), an irresponsible goofball who becomes the guardian to his conservative genius 12-year-old nephew Wendell (Buddy Handelson). Sullivan, who most recently recurred on Cougar Town, will play Vinnie’s sister Wilma.

Lyndon Smith, Steve Talley (I Just Want My Pants Back) and Abby Pivaronas (Jonas) are the first actors cast in Krysten Ritter/Eric Garcia’s hourlong pilot for MTV

Cassandra French’s Finishing School For Boys. Written by Garcia, who adapted his book, the project centers on Cassie French, a 22-year-old overachiever who can’t find a guy ready for a real, mature relationship. After the latest disappointment, she locks her latest boyfriend (Talley) up in her basement in order to train him to become the perfect gentleman. Newcomer Smith, who just graduated from college in May, will play Claire, Cassandra’s loyal and outrageous best friend. She is repped by Buchwald/Fortitude and Main Title. Pivaronas will play Lexi, who is best friends with Cassie and Claire. Heathers helmer Michael Lehmann is directing the pilot.

Disney XD has recast the male lead in its new live action/puppet series Crash & Bernstein. Cole Jensen will now play Wyatt Bernstein, who gets his dream of having a brother in a house of sisters when his puppet Crash comes to life. Crash is played by played by Emmy-nominated Sesame Street puppet master and filmmaker Tim Lagasse. Crash & Bernstein is scheduled to premiere this fall. Jensen is repped by Cunningham Escott Slevin & Doherty.
