NBC Nabs ‘Evidence Room’ Crime Drama From John Glenn & Justin Lin As Put Pilot

John Glenn (Allegiance) has teamed with Fast & Furious’ Justin Lin for The Evidence Room, a crime drama procedural that has landed at NBC with a put pilot commitment.

Written by Glenn, The Evidence Room — as the title suggests — centers on the investigations tied to objects in the Evidence Room, a secure area in a police station where evidence and seized property is stored. The items in the room will serve as engine for the stories to tackle a wide array of crimes and criminals. But the series’ real focus will be the characters and how their involvement in the investigation will bond them and reveal their individual truths, solving the mystery, who is Lucy Zephs?

Glenn executive produces through his John Glenn Entertainment alongside Lin & Danielle Woodrow through Perfect Storm Entertainment. Universal TV, where Glenn is under an overall deal, is the studio.

It has been a big development season for Lin and Perfect Storm Entertainment. This marks the company’s third big commitment. At CBS, Lin has a pilot production commitment for S.W.A.T., a drama inspired by the movie and original series, which he is producing with Shawn Ryan and Neal Moritz. Drama A Burglar’s Guide to the City — on which Scorpion executive producer Lin has teamed with the action series’ executive producers Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin and co-executive producer Paul Grellong — has a put pilot commitment at CBS. Additionally, Perfect Storm has thriller drama Blowback in the works at the CW with writer Hannah Shakespeare and a pilot order at Cinemax for Warrior, a crime drama based on original material written by Bruce Lee. Lin and Perfect Storm Entertainment are repped by CAA and attorney Jackie Eckhouse.

Glenn, who executive produced the NBC drama Allegiance, also has high-concept procedural Dreamer, with writer Matt Lopez, at NBC with a script plus penalty commitment, and drama Under Suspicion, based on the bestselling crime thriller book series by Mary Higgins Clark, in the works at CBS. Glenn is repped by WME, Circle of Confusion and attorney Warren Dern.

The put pilot commitment for The Evidence Room underscores crime procedurals’ position as the hottest drama genre this selling season.
