‘Modern Family’ Writer-Producer Vali Chandrasekaran Inks 20th TV Overall Deal

Modern Family co-executive producer Vali Chandrasekaran has signed a two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television, the studio behind the Emmy-winning ABC comedy. Under the pact, Chandrasekaran will continue as co-executive producer on Modern Family next season and will be promoted to executive producer the following season, working under creators/executive producers Christopher Lloyd and Steve Levitan.

Chandrasekaran joined Modern Family at the beginning of this season while still under an overall deal at ABC sibling ABC Studios. That pact expires next month, with the 20th TV deal starting on June 1.

“Vali has done a terrific job for Chris and Steve on Modern Family, and this deal keeps him on this huge, priority asset which continues to deliver six seasons in,” said TCFTV President of Creative Affairs Jonnie Davis. “We are excited to add Vali’s bold and original voice to our already incredible stable of writers, and we look forward to developing new projects with him down the road.”

Chandrasekaran, whose series credits include NBC’s 30 Rock and My Name Is Earl and ABC’s Trophy Wife and Mixology, is repped by UTA and Management 360.
