Meredith Wechter Exits ICM, Puts Josh Gad, ‘Wonder Woman’s Gal Gadot In Play
EXCLUSIVE: The movement of agents continues. Meredith Wechter, a longtime agent at ICM Partners whose clients include Josh Gad and Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot, has left the agency and will be moving on. I’ve confirmed she’s no longer at ICM, where she spent a decade. I’d heard rumors that she might resurface at WME, but I’m told she is under contract until June 30. So nothing will happen until then. We’ve seen the litigation flying back and forth between CAA and UTA after a dozen comedy agents left the former to go to the latter, while some of them are under contract.
The timing of Wechter’s exit is interesting. Her last day at the agency was yesterday, which was when she and numerous other dealmakers closed a massive seven-figure deal for a musical comedy feature with Universal Pictures. That film will star Gad and be helmed by his Wedding Ringer director Jeremy Garelick. Wechter worked on behalf of Gad along with ICM’s Doug MacLaren, and Gad’s Brillstein Entertainment Partners manager Aleen Keshishian. Gad and Garelick hatched the pitch and the latter will write the script. The musical will include tunes from the Oscar-winning tandem of Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. It was the biggest material deal of the year so far.

The big battle will be for Gad and Gadot, the latter the Israeli actress who landed the Wonder Woman role in what will be a free-standing film and Justice League. Wechter also worked with clients that include Bryce Dallas Howard, Hailee Steinfeld, Katherine McPhee and Meg Ryan. We’ll watch and see how this one ends up.
