Matt Charman And Nina Jacobson Close Deal With Fox 2000 On ‘Wilderness’
EXCLUSIVE: Screenwriter Matt Charman and Hunger Games producer Nina Jacobson have closed a deal with Fox 2000 for Wilderness. The logline, which is believed to have a particularly original take and does have YA elements, is being kept closely under wraps. It is high concept enough for Fox to have moved so pre-emptively and decisively. Jacobson initially brought the idea to Charman, who fleshed it out enough for her to pitch- successfully- to Fox execs. Brad Simpson (World War Z) is also on-board as a producer.
The deal, in the high six figures, represents another step in Charman’s meteoric rise these past two years. Having sold Steven Spielberg on his pitch for what would become Bridge Of Spies– released October 16 by Disney- the writer has been virtually unstoppable. He is writing Patriots Day for CBS Films with Scott Stuber producing, Peter Berg directing and Mark Wahlberg to star. The aim is for that project to start production sometime in 2016.
Charman is writing a heist film for Matt Reeves at Fox with Reeves and Tobey Maguire producing. He has also sold Lethal, a TV pitch to CBS with Carl Beverly and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones producing. Charman’s three-parter Black Work aired on ITV earlier this year to strong reviews and ratings.
