Lionsgate Developing ‘Dust’ Movie with ‘Lego’ Producer

Lionsgate is developing “Dust,” a movie based on Paolo Parente’s graphic novel of the same name, and has set up the fantasy project with “The Lego Movie” producer Dan Lin.

Rawson Marshall Thurber, whose credits include “We’re the Millers” and “Dodgeball,” is attached to direct.

“Dust” is set in an alternate-history universe in which World War II had a different ending. Instead, the Axis powers attempted to dominate the world with weapons built using alien technology taken from a crashed spaceship.

Thurber is directing “Central Intelligence,” starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, with shooting in Boston this summer. Lin is a producer on the three upcoming “Lego” movies.

Erik Feig, Jim Miller and James Myers are overseeing the project for Lionsgate.

The news was first reported by the Hollywood Reporter.
