‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians: About Bruce’ Debuts On E!

If you’ve been wondering why Kris Jenner has only issued a cryptic “no comment” to date, in re ex-husband Bruce Jenner’s transition to a woman, you now have your answer. “I have these memories of this life and I feel sometimes like it didn’t exist,” teary-eyed Kris Jenner told beautifully-put-together Kim, in a clip from the new E! special, Keeping Up With The Kardashians: About Bruce, airing May 17-18.

Turns out Kris Jenner was just saving her thoughts for her own series on E!, as NBC’s Today gang noted when they unveiled a clip this morning.

E! announced it’s got more honest, raw, emotional conversations where that came from. Also conversations with Kourtney, Khloé, Kendall, Kylie and Scott, “captured in the unfiltered, exclusive special in which Bruce opens up to his family about life as a transgender woman.”

E! noted that, at this time, Bruce Jenner is choosing to not live publicly in the media as a woman and will be referred to as Bruce Jenner and with male pronouns in this announcement. Presumably, he’s saving the unveiling of his new name and other details for his own E! special, which the network announced during ABC News’ recent Bruce Jenner interview. That eight-part, one-hour series will premiere Sunday, July 26 at 9 PM on E! and will also air on E! channels internationally.

In Diane Sawyer’s sit-down with Bruce Jenner, on the second night of the May sweep, he talked about wanting, as a small child growing up in Tarrytown, to dress in his sisters’ dresses, and cover his short hair with his mother’s scarves.

“I was a lonely boy. I’m still a lonely big boy,” Jenner said. “I don’t socialize a lot. I’m not an outgoing person. I never fit in.” Jenner told Sawyer, “I see women and think how lucky they are that they can wake up in the morning and be themselves.”

Picking up where ABC News left off, the KUWTK: About Bruce special will star his third former wife, Kris – as well as Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, Kendall, Kylie and Scott – speaking candidly with Bruce, and asking many questions, E! vowed. The network promised the family’s “unfiltered reactions are surprising, thoughtful and ultimately compassionate and supportive.” And that the Kardashians are “hoping to help other families experiencing the same thing.”

The special also includes family home video footage, in order to remind viewers, the network said, of “special times they spent with Bruce as a father, husband and friend, and serves as inspiration for the memories they’ll create as Bruce lives his ‘new normal’.”

The special is produced by Bunim/Murray Productions and Ryan Seacrest Productions. Bruce Jenner serves as an executive oroducer – as do Kris Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian West and Khloé Kardashian.
