The project has been for sale at Cannes with Exclusive Media handling international rights and CAA handling domestic.

Brian Kirk, whose TV credits include “Game Of Thrones” and “Boardwalk Empire,” is attached to direct in what will be his feature debut. Wayfare Entertainment is financing and producing the pic from a script by Jon Spaihts.

“Passengers” is set in the future on a spacecraft with thousands of passengers making an interstellar voyage to a new planet with a single passenger (Reeves) awakening from cryogenic sleep 90 years before anyone else. He then awakens a beautiful woman, played by Witherspoon.

Stephen Hamel of Company Films will produce the pic with Wayfare topper Ben Browning.
