Karl Urban: Filmmakers ‘Working Very, Very Hard’ To Make ‘Dredd 2′ a Reality

Karl Urban continues to keep the faith alive for “Dredd 2.”

In his latest update to fans, the actor said that he’s working tirelessly with the movie’s original screenwriter-producer Alex Garland and DNA Films to make the dream of a sequel a reality.

“I just wanted to say on behalf of everyone involved with the film ‘Dredd,’ from Alex Garland to the DNA boys to myself, we really, really appreciate it and we’re working very, very hard to bring you Dredd 2,” he said after thanking fans for their ongoing support, which includes signing a petition calling for a second movie installment.

Although it grossed less than $36 million worldwide and cost $50 million to make, Urban, who starred in the 2012 comic book movie reboot, recently revealed that there were talks of a second movie after the release of a graphic novel sequel.

The movie found a new audience when it was released on DVD and Blu-ray. It claimed the number one spot on the DVD sell-through and Blu-ray charts last year.
