Jon Cryer wins comedy Emmy

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jon Cryer wins the Emmy Award for best actor in a comedy.

Cryer, who plays Alan Harper in CBS' "Two and a Half Men," was a past supporting actor winner for this character but moved up to lead actor this year.

He beat Jim Parsons of CBS' "The Big Bang Theory," who won the previous two Emmys in this category. Other nominees were Louie C.K. of FX's "Louie," Larry David of HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm," two-time winner Alec Baldwin of NBC's "30 Rock" and Don Cheadle of Showtime's "House of Lies."

The 64th Primetime Emmys are airing live from the Nokia Theatre L.A., with Jimmy Kimmel as host.
