Jim Gianopulos to Deliver USC School of Cinematic Arts Commencement Address

Twentieth Century Fox chairman-CEO Jim Gianopulos will deliver this year’s commencement address during the graduation ceremony for the USC School of Cinematic Arts, dean of the school Elizabeth M. Daley has announced.

At the ceremony, Marvel Studios prexy – and USC SCA alumnus Kevin Feige — will be presented with the Mary Pickford Alumni Award.

Gianopulos, a member of the SCA board of councilors, oversees all of 20th Century Fox’s feature film production and global marketing and distribution. He began his three decades-plus in the biz as an entertainment attorney and has also held senior management positions at Paramount and Columbia Pictures.

Since joining Marvel in 2000, Feige has overseen all creative aspects of the company’s feature film ventures, including the blockbuster adaptations of “Captain America,” “Thor” and “Iron Man.”

“We are so honored to have Jim Gianopulos and Kevin Feige join us for our graduation ceremony,” Daley said in a statement. “Few in the film world can rival Jim’s experience and leadership skills, and we are deeply grateful for his support and vital involvement in the SCA community. We are also very pleased to welcome back our distinguished alum Kevin; his success with the Marvel franchise is a major inspiration to our students.”

The SCA graduation ceremony is set to take place May 16 at the Shrine Auditorium.
