Jessica Alba: My Book Is "More Grounded" Than Gwyneth Paltrow's "Because I Didn't Grow Up With a Bunch …

Jessica Alba and Gwyneth Paltrow are both working, married moms-of-two in Hollywood who also dispense advice through their own books and lifestyle brands (The Honest Company and Goop, respectively). But that's where the similarities end, Alba says.

Speaking to the New York Daily News about her book, The Honest Life: Living Naturally and True to You, the 31-year-old Fantastic Four actress suggested that moms might find her tips more relatable than Paltrow's. Both stars advocate for nontoxic products and organic produce, but Alba insists that her advice is actually practical and easy to incorporate into everyday life.

"Alicia Silverstone is a vegan, so she's the extreme side of it. Gwyneth Paltrow probably lives a very similar lifestyle, but I didn't grow up with a bunch of money, so my tips are much more grounded: repurposing things and making things at home," the eco-friendly entrepreneur, mom to 4-year-old Honor and 19-month-old Haven, told the paper earlier this month.

Incidentally, Paltrow recently made headlines for her second cookbook, It's All Good, in which she advocates that parents adopt a low-carb, gluten-free diet for their families. (She and husband Chris Martin have done this with kids Apple, 8, and Moses, 6.) She also regularly includes extravagant, high-priced product recommendations -- $240 towels, anyone? -- in her Goop newsletter.

Alba says her lifestyle tips are much less expensive and much less extreme. "I absolutely do these things. That's why I wrote the book," she told the Daily News of the advice in her tome. "There's lots of options, like delivery services for fresh produce that is organic, if people just want to do a couple of things in the book that are super-easy...You can take what you want from the book."
