Jai Courtney Officially Signs on to ‘Terminator’

After working out a deal where Jai Courtney is able to do both the “Terminator” reboot and Summit’s “Insurgent,” the Aussie actor has officially signed on to play Kyle Reese in “Terminator.”

While he was the choice to play Reese in the Paramount and Skydance action pic, Courtney came close to falling off since his shooting schedule with “Terminator” looked to overlap with the production of “Insurgent.” Sources now say a deal has been worked out where he is able to shoot both films this year.

With his deal officially closed, the latest installment in the “Terminator” franchise is closer to production as Courtney’s co-stars Emilia Clarke and Jason Clarke had already signed on to the pic. Alan Taylor is directing.

Plot details have not been revealed, other than this is the first film in a standalone trilogy.

Skydance will finance along with the studio, with David Ellison producing for Skydance. Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier penned the script.

Dana Goldberg and Paul Schwake are on as exec producers. Paramount will handle distribution.

Courtney is repped by UTA, Mark Morrissey and Associates and Silver Linings Entertainment and can be seen in “Divergent,” which is currently in theaters.
