Here's How You Can Get the Joker's Sweet New 'Suicide Squad' Car
For anyone that’s ever wanted to take a spin in a genuine supercar, here’s a pretty solid — and surprisingly realistic — alternative.
In next summer’s DC super-villain team-up Suicide Squad, the Joker (Jared Leto) has his own sweet set of wheels. And unlike the fully customized, armored new Batmobile, Joker’s car is actually based on a real model that’s being sold to the public. Called the Vaydor, it’s a kit car designed and sold by a gear head named Matt McEntegart, who lives in northern Florida.
Fox 13, the local Fox affiliate in Tampa Bay, tracked McEntegart down to get the skinny on the slick, super-charged set of wheels. Watch the news report below:
The car’s body, as McEntegart explained, is built out of fiberglass and fits — with a lot of welding and customizing — onto the frame of an Infiniti G35, a mid-level sports sedan. McEntegart says it would cost about $60,000 for a decent hobbyist to put together the car, the parts of which he manufactures in his own warehouse.
“I’m a fan of the supercar look,” he said. “I wanted aggressive, angry, and low to the ground.”

That description basically shouts “super-villain,” and sure enough, when Suicide Squad came calling, he was more than happy to let his handiwork be featured in the film. “I think that’s perfect,” he told director David Ayer’s crew.

The car can be any color, but both the one McEntegart showed to Fox 13 and the model used for Suicide Squad is painted a sort of hot purple, which looks great under the neon lights of the Gotham City night. This past summer, fans lined the streets of Toronto, where the film was shot, to watch Ayer and his team shoot several chase scenes. As always, many fans took some footage of the action, which you can see below:
As you can see, Batman — now played by Ben Affleck — has landed on top of the Joker’s wheels and is hanging on as the villain’s power cruiser flies around corners. Along with the Joker is his girlfriend/accomplice, Harley Quinn (played by Margot Robbie). Robbie is actually in the car, but Leto has been replaced by a stunt driver in Joker makeup (presumably, they’ll replace him digitally in close-ups).

Suicide Squad, which co-stars Will Smith, Cara Delevingne, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, and Common, hits theaters on August 5.
