"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" sealed its designation as an international blockbuster this weekend, rolling up $106.5 million at the overseas box office.

That haul, from 16,600 screens in 62 territories, was off just 12 percent from last week and gives Peter Jackson's Middle-earth epic an overseas total of $464 million and an overall worldwide gross of $686 million.

Warner Bros.' and MGM's "The Hobbit" has been the world's No. 1 film since it opened three weeks ago and continues to hold the top spot at the box office in France, Germany, Spain and the U.K.
