Graham Moore-Marc Forster Outbreak Drama Gets 10-Episode NBC Series Order

Writer Graham Moore, whose first feature, The Imitation Game, earned him an Oscar, is making another debut, as TV series creator. NBC has given a 10-episode, straight-to-series order to a drama from Moore, World War Z director Marc Forster and Endemol Shine Studios. The untitled thriller (fka Patient Zero) was co-developed by Sky, which will serve as the series’ UK network.

Created and written by Moore and to be directed by Forster, the series is described as a candid look at an outbreak that pushes its

characters to extremes, revealing the best – and very worst – humanity has to offer. When a woman exhibits mysterious symptoms, she and her loved ones find themselves in the center of an epidemic with global consequences. Meanwhile, across the world, an FBI agent investigates a seemingly unrelated terrorist attack that leads him to the brink of madness.

Moore and Forster executive produce alongside Patrick Spence, Katie Swinden, Frith Tiplady, Nora Grossman & Ido Ostrowsky, with Jillian Kugler, who works with Forster, serving as a co-executive producer.

The series is being produced by Fifty Fathoms Productions, Tiger Aspect Productions, 2DUX², and Bristol Automotive in association with Endemol Shine Studios, the scripted division of Endemol Shine’s U.S. operation. NBC International Studios is handling distribution.

Moore, whose inspiring acceptance speech was one of the highlights at this year’s Academy Awards, is repped by CAA, Think Tank Management and attorney Fred Toczek.

Forster, repped by CAA, Management 360, and attorneys Linda Lichter and Jonathan Shikora, recently made a successful TV directing debut with the Amazon pilot Hand Of God, which went to series, with Forster and Kugler executive producing.

Grossman and Ostrowsky are repped by attorneys Peter Sample and Alan Wertheimer; Kugler, Tiger Aspect, and Fifty Fathoms are also repped by CAA.

NBC has been the most aggressive among its broadcast counterparts in pursuing the straight-to-series model with such upcoming shows as Aquarius, which premieres tonight, dramas Shades Of Blue and Emerald City and comedy Hot & Bothered.
