Simon Dickson Exiting As Managing Director Of Shine Group’s Dragonfly
Simon Dickson, Managing Director of Shine Group factual producer Dragonfly, is leaving the company after three years. The exec will step down next month, with Dragonfly Creative Director Mark Raphael and COO Lucinda Hicks taking over as Co-Managing Directors. Dickson joined Dragonfly in April 2011 as the company’s Creative Director before becoming Managing Director in November 2012. Prior to joining Dragonfly, he served as Deputy Head of Documentaries at Channel 4. At Dragonfly, Dickson was executive producer on event documentary The Plane Crash (Discovery and Channel 4) and celebrities-in-the-wilderness series Bear Grylls’ Wild Weekends (Channel 4). Under his stewardship the company has delivered such documentaries as The Horsemeat Banquet (BBC Three), Terror At Sea: The Sinking Of The Concordia (Channel 4) and Hurricane Sandy: Anatomy Of A Superstorm (BBC Two) alongside series People Like Us and What Happens In Kavos for BBC Three and Channel 4, respectively.

ITV Resurrecting ‘Hollywood Squares’ Format‘ With Celebrity Squares’
ITV is reviving The Hollywood Squares. The UK version, Celebrity Squares, will be adapted from the CBS Studios International format and air later this year, though the daypart has yet to be determined. The revamped series will be produced by September Films and GroupM Entertainment and hosted by Warwick Davis (Life’s Too Short, Harry Potter). The classic game is set on a tic-tac-toe grid with celebrities answering questions from their perches one to a box. Contestants agree or disagree with the celebrity’s answer and if correct they win that square with the goal of getting three boxes lined up vertically, horizontally or diagonally to win the round. The series will be executive produced by Bob Massie for September Films and Tony Mousdale and Abigail Adams for GroupM Entertainment.

‘Driving Miss Daisy: The Play’ To Screen In 300-Plus UK Cinemas
Live event cinema producer and distributor Omniverse has set a special screening of Driving Miss Daisy: The Play, starring Angela Lansbury and James Earl Jones, to be broadcast May 25 via satellite to over 300 cinemas across the UK. Followed by a live Q&A with Lansbury, the event will feature a production of the comedy-drama play that was filmed at The Comedy Theatre in Melbourne last year. The Q&A will be hosted at BFI Southbank in London,

U.S. China Film & Television Industry Expo Rescheduled For September
The inaugura U.S. China Film & Television Industry Expo, which had been set for March 5-6 in Los Angeles, has been rescheduled for September 15-16. The confab, designed to further cooperation between the countries’ movie and TV industries, was postponed to avoid coinciding with China’s National People’s Congress. With the new dates, organizers hope to attract the top government officials, executives and professionals from China’s industries.
