‘Furious 7′ Director James Wan Honored at Paradigm Bash
The top tier of studio execs — plus Vin Diesel– showed up in force Thursday night to fete “Furious 7″ director James Wan on the eve of the blockbuster becoming the fastest film to top $1 billion in worldwide box office.
Paradigm chairman and CEO Sam Gores hosted the bash at his home in Beverly Hills. Attendees included Warner Bros. topper Kevin Tsujihara, New Line’s Toby Emmerich, Lionsgate’s Rob Friedman and Sony Pictures’ Doug Belgrad; Neal Moritz, who’s produced all seven “Fast and Furious” films; and heavyweight producers Charles Roven, Mark Burg, Dan Lin, Mark Canton, Peter Safran, Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey.
Wan spoke briefly, singling out his longtime agent by saying, “Scott Henderson is the man.”
Prior to “Furious 7,” Wan co-created the “Saw” and “Insidious” franchises along with directing the surprise hit “The Conjuring.” Next up –he’s producing “Insidious 3″ and returning to direct “The Conjuring 2” for New Line in the fall.
