Fandango Inks Multi-Year Pact With Marcus Theatres — CinemaCon
Online movie ticket sales destination Fandango announced this morning that it will become the preferred online/mobile ticketing partner to Milwaukee-based theatrical exhibitor Marcus Theatres, comprising 685 screens. Adding Marcus, the fifth-largest exhib chain stateside, to its roster makes Fandango the largest online ticket-seller for the nation’s top seven theater chains — Regal, AMC, Cinemark, Carmike, Marcus, Southern and Harkins. Marcus will join Fandango in the fall, bringing the ticket-seller’s U.S. screen count to 26K-plus. Monthly, Fandango attracts more than 36M unique visitors a month.
As part of the multi-year deal, Marcus will link its online and mobile sites directly to Fandango. The latter will service Marcus customers throughout Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and Ohio at 55 locales.
Fandango is the primary ticketer across many tech platforms and connected devices including Apple’s iOS devices (iPhone, iPad), Siri, Passbook and the new Apple Watch, Google Now, Samsung’s Smart TVs, phones and tablets, IMDb, AOL, MSN, Yahoo!, and others. A leading provider of movie trailers and movie-related video content, Fandango has channels and apps on Hulu, Roku and Samsung’s Milk Video Service, and operates the number one movie trailers channel on YouTube with Fandango Movieclips. Fandango’s top-ranking movie ticketing apps counts 46M downloads.
