Daniel Gerson Dies: Screenwriter On ‘Monsters, Inc’, ‘Big Hero 6’ Was 49

Daniel Gerson, a screenwriter on Pixar’s Monsters, Inc and prequel Monsters University, has died. His family announced that Gerson died Saturday at his home in Los Angeles after battling brain cancer. He was 49.

Gerson co-wrote Monsters, Inc with Andrew Stanton and shared credit on prequel Monsters University with his frequent writing partner Robert L. Baird and Dan Scanlon. He reteamed with Baird, along with Jordan Roberts, on the screenplay for Big Hero 6, which won the Oscar for best animated feature film in 2015. He also was the voice of Desk Sergeant on Big Hero 6 and voiced characters on both Monsters film.

He also assisted on features including Chicken Little, Curious George, Cars and Meet The Robinsons. His TV writing credits include Big Wolf On Campus, Misguided Angels and The New Addams Family.
