Chinese Actress Jing Tian Joins ‘Pacific Rim’ Sequel

Having wrapped roles in The Great Wall and Kong: Skull Island, Jing Tian is suiting up for the next film in the Pacific Rim series. No word on her role in the film, which stars John Boyega, Scott Eastwood and Cailee Spaeny.

Few plot details have been announced, but it’s known that Boyega’s character will be the son of the commander played by Idris Elba in the 2013 original that also starred Charlie Hunnam. Steven S. DeKnight directing the film based on the world created by Guillermo del Toro and Travis Beacham. Thomas Tull, Mary Parent, Jon Jashni and del Toro will produce the action-adventure pic along with Boyega and Femi Oguns under their Upper Room Productions. Cale Boyter will serve as the film’s executive producer.

Jing has starred in the Chinese films New Police Story with Jackie Chan and Special ID with Donnie Yen. Zhang Yimou is directing The Great Wall which stars Matt Damon. Her Kong ensemble castmates include Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson and John Goodman. Jing is repped by CAA and Starlit TV & Film Ltd. Co.
