‘Children of Paranoia’ Acquired by CBS Films for Akiva Goldsman

CBS Films has acquired movie rights to Trevor Shane’s sci-fi novel “Children of Paranoia” and set up the project with Akiva Goldsman to produce through his Weed Road shingle.

Mark Verheiden (“Falling Skies”) is adapting “Children of Paranoia,” published in 2011 by Dutton as Shane’s first novel. The tome is the first of a trilogy.

Story centers on a young assassin caught up in a centuries-old global clandestine war. When he falls in love with a woman who calls into question the world as he knows it, he fights to uncover the elusive truth behind the conflict.

Goldsman’s producing credits include “Hancock,” “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” “Fair Game” and the upcoming “Long Survivor.” He won a screenplay Oscar for “A Beautiful Mind.”

Mark Ross and Alex Ginno are overseeing the project for CBS Films.

Goldsman and Verheiden are represented by CAA. Verheiden is managed by Untitled Entertainment. Shane is represented by CAA and Janklow and Nesbit.
