CBS Buys Comedy From ‘Modern Family’s Paul Corrigan & Brad Walsh As Put Pilot
Workplace, a single-camera comedy from Modern Family executive producers Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh, has landed at CBS with a put pilot commitment. 20th Century Fox TV is the studio.
As the title suggests, the project is a workplace comedy. It is set in a three-story building with three seemingly separate businesses: a one-hit-wonder app developer; a real estate company grudgingly shared by a divorced couple; and a cafe run by two sisters, one of whom hasn’t worked a day in her life. Corrigan and Walsh executive produce.
Workplace stems from an overall deal Corrigan and Walsh inked with 20th TV last year. The duo have been
key writer-producers on the studio’s Modern Family, which they joined after the pilot. For the past six years, Corrigan and Walsh had been focused on their Modern Family duties, with Workplace as their first new development since they boarded the Emmy-winning ABC comedy. (A couple of years ago, the two shepherded a floated Modern Family spinoff starring Rob Riggle.)
Workplace marks Corrigan and Walsh’s return to CBS where their suburban family comedy spec 1321 Clover received a pilot order in 2007 and led to their Modern Family gig.
Corrigan and Walsh were nominated for a WGA Award for Modern Family‘s “Career Day” episode featuring Riggle and shared in the show’s five consecutive best comedy series Emmys.
The duo, who also worked on Fox’s King Of The Hill, are repped by UTA and attorney Jared Levine.
