Ben Winston, Fulwell 73 Sign Production Deal With CBS Television Studios

CBS Television Studios announced today a development deal with Fulwell 73, the UK-based independent production company founded by Ben Winston, Leo Pearlman, Ben Turner and Gabe Turner.

Executive producers of CBS’ Emmy-nominated The Late Late Show with James Corden, Fulwell 73 and Winston will create scripted, alternative and digital TV for the studio, with an eye to broadcast, cable, streaming and other digital platforms.

Winston and Fulwell 73’s initial project is the previously announced Carpool Karaoke TV series for Apple Music, based on the Late Late Show segment that’s a viral hit. In each of the new series’ 16 episodes, celebrities will ride and sing along as they visit places of interest to the star, sing tunes from their playlists and surprise fans who don’t expect to see stars belting out tunes one lane over.

“Ben and Fulwell’s creativity and willingness to take risks have made them one of the UK’s most versatile, award-winning producers,” said David Stapf, President of CBS Television Studios, noting Winston’s accomplishment on Late Late Show, which achieved multiple Emmy nominations in its first season. “The new Carpool Karaoke weekly series is a great start to our partnership with Fulwell 73, and we look forward to more unique and innovative programming across different platforms.”

Winston served as executive producer on the hit UK version of The X Factor. In addition, he has produced and directed documentaries and movies for the music act One Direction, and won an MTV Video Music Award for directing the music video for Best Song Ever, which also featured Corden.

London-based Fulwell 73 London was set up in 2005 by brothers Gabe and Ben Turner with their cousins and life-long friends Leo Pearlman and Ben Winston. The company first came to the public’s attention in September 2007 with the release of their debut feature documentary, In The Hands Of The Gods (Lionsgate).

Their most recent theatrical film releases include; the sports documentary The Class of 92 (Universal Pictures), the music documentary One Direction 3D: This is Us (Sony/Columbia) and the independent film Guvnors (Metrodome).

Fulwell 73 is currently producing and directing I Am Bolt, a cinematic sports documentary which is to be released globally by Universal. The film gave unparalleled access to Usain Bolt as he trained for the Rio Olympics.

Last year, Winston moved to Los Angeles to launch Corden’s CBS late night show, as exec producer. The show boasts the most viewed clip in the history of late night television, Carpool Karaoke with Adele. The show received four Emmy nominations this year, more than any other daily late-night show. He also produced the Tony Awards for CBS in New York in June.
