New ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ Teaser: World’s Finest?

Welcome to the trailer for the trailer. Following in the footsteps of Disney’s pre-Thanksgiving Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Captain America: Civil War extravaganza, Warner Bros has gotten in some synergy of its own. Tonight’s episode of the Batman prequel TV series Gotham has been paired with a new sneak peak at next year’s inevitable hit Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice, and you can watch it now, right here.

The full trailer that will debut Wednesday during Jimmy Kimmel Live. We’ll save a fuller reaction for then, but it’s worth noting, since everyone on social media is talking about it, that this is probably not the film’s actual portrayal of Superman. My guess is that we just saw a paranoid nightmare Batman has about a world ruled by Superman.

Intended as the glue binding together Warner Bros’ planned “DC Extended Universe” of films, Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice is set in the aftermath of 2013’s Man of Steel. With the world now aware that superheroes exist, Batman — who for years has been nothing but a Gotham City urban legend — emerges from the shadows to confront what he sees as Superman’s unchecked, godlike power. Meanwhile, powerful billionaire Lex Luthor hatches plans of his own, fostering conflict between the World’s Finest that leads to the formation of the Justice League.

Henry Cavill returns as Superman, and Ben Affleck co-stars as an older, more cynical Batman. They’re joined by Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Batman’s butler/armorer Alfred, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Daily Planet editor Perry White, Diane Lane as Superman’s mom Martha Kent and Holly Hunter as U.S. Senator Finch. In addition, the film sees Gal Gadot’s introduction as Wonder Woman in a supporting role, with other DC heroes showing up for cameos, including Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and Tao Okamoto as Lex Luthor’s bodyguard Mercy Graves. The film hits theaters March 25.
