‘August: Osage County’ Actress Misty Upham Reported Missing

Actress Misty Upham, who’s best known for her roles in “August: Osage County” and “Frozen River,” has been reported missing by her family.

The Native American actress, who most recently appeared alongside Jennifer Aniston in “Cake,” was last seen leaving her sister’s apartment on the Muckleshoot Indian Reservation near Auburn, Wash. (between Seattle and Tacoma) on Oct. 5. The 32-year-old was reported missing by her father the following day. Her parents also noted that Upham is taking medication for mental health issues.

Auburn Police Commander Steve Stocker told Reuters that officers responded to a suicide call from the apartment, but Upham had already left by the time officers arrived. Stocker said police have responded to suicide calls at the same residence four times in the last year.

The family posted the following message Friday on Facebook.

“Misty is still missing. … We requested that the Washington State Endangered Missing Person plan be implemented. The Detective said supervisors on the case are considering this request but feel it does meet the criteria at this time. We tried to organize a search party from the Muckleshoot tribe but they do not have funding available at this time. They offered to do a email blast to all their employees with her missing poster. Right now it’s just her father and brother searching.”

Upham was nominated for a best supporting female Independent Spirit Award for her role as an illegal immigrant in the 2008 drama “Frozen River.”
