Amazon Expands Prime Video Downloads To iOS, Android

Amazon has upped the ante in its competition with other subscription streaming services, now offering the ability to download movies and TV episodes to iOS and Android platforms without an Internet connection at no additional charge. The service is available beginning today for Prime members in the U.S. UK, Germany and Austria. The streaming service previously only allowed users of Amazon’s Fire-branded Android devices to download content for offline viewing.

Titles available for download include drama series Bosch, The White Queen, 24, Covert Affairs, Downton Abbey, Extant, Grimm, Hannibal, Justified, Mr. Selfridge, Orphan Black, Sons Of Anarchy, Teen Wolf, The Americans, The Good Wife, Suits, Under the Dome, Veronica Mars, Vikings; comedy series Transparent, Mozart In The Jungle, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, Girls, Veep, The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, The Newsroom, True Blood; and kids shows including Wishenpoof!, Creative Galaxy, Tumble Leaf, Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street, and Annedroids.

Movies include Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Star Trek Into Darkness, The Captive, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Wolf of Wall Street, Life After Beth, Palo Alto, Starred Up, The Bling Ring, If I Stay, and The Spectacular Now.
