AFM: Magnolia Takes Music Documentary ‘Wrecking Crew’

Magnolia Pictures has acquired worldwide rights to music documentary “The Wrecking Crew,” following the studio musicians who backed dozens of hits during the 1960s.

Magnolia is selling international territories at the American Film Market.

The Los Angeles-based Wrecking Crew backed The Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Sinatra, Sonny and Cher, The Righteous Brothers, Simon and Garfunkel, The Monkees and Glen Campbell — along with being Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound.

“Music lovers will be astonished at the breadth of influence the Wrecking Crew wielded over rock and pop music from the 60s,” said Magnolia president Eamonn Bowles.

Guitarist Tommy Tedesco, drummer Hal Blaine, bassist Carol Kaye and saxophonist Plas Johnson are interviewed for the film, directed by Tommy Tedesco’s son Denny Tedesco.
