Academy Sets Dates for Governors Awards, 2015 Oscar Noms

Oscar execs have filled in details of their upcoming awards calendar, setting dates for nominations and the Governors Awards, among other events.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences had firmed the Feb. 22, 2015, date for the 87th Oscars more than a year ago (Variety, March 25, 2013) and the other dates, which were unveiled Thursday, conform to the usual AMPAS timetable. Nomination voting begins at the end of December, with nominations unveiled mid-January.

The Academy of TV Arts & Sciences switched Emmys from Sunday to Monday this year, and there has been talk that AMPAS might also return to a Monday berth. But, at least for 2015, it’s still Oscar Sunday.

ABC will telecast Oscar coverage starting with preshow coverage at 7 p.m. ET/ 4 p.m. at the Dolby Theatre. The ceremonies will start 90 minutes later.
