Caffeine

A stimulant found in coffee, chocolate, tea and some sports drinks which can be mildly addictive. It increases blood pressure, heart rate and breathing and can make you feel more energised and alert. Excess consumption, however, can cause sleeplessness, stomach irritation and fluid loss. An estimated guideline of caffeine consumption per day is between 200 and 250 mg, which equates to approximately two mugs of coffee or four cups of tea.
