‘Like Crazy’ Is The Projector’s Movie of the Week

Every week, The Projector gives you our Movie of the Week, the one film that we agree you should run out and see before any other this weekend. Some people think we're too negative. We think you should blame the movies for that, not us, but nevertheless: Every week, we'll recommend a movie, with links to great interviews, our own writings and where you can get tickets. We're not afraid to be service-y!

So, this week pick is "Like Crazy," a bittersweet romance about two college students (Anton Yelchin and Felicity Jones) who fall in love in Los Angeles but are forced to be apart when her visa expires and cannot re-enter the country. (There's more to it than just that, promise.) So go see it. Here's all you need to know, and how to make that happen:

The Projector Movie Pick of the Week: "Like Crazy."
Director: Drake Doremus.
Stars: Anton Yelchin, Felicity Jones, Jennifer Lawrence, Alex Kingston, Chris Messina.
Quote From Our Review: "It's pretty easy to make a movie about two people destined for one another. It is far harder to make a movie about ones who aren't but who think they are."
Quote From Another Critic You Respect: Matt Singer, IFC.com: "This movie is so good and so true it's almost too painful to watch. We fall in love with its characters as they fall in love with each other, and then we have to sit there helplessly as they suffer. This thing is like a romantic drama for torture porn fans."
Quote From Smart Interview With the Director: "I didn't want to make a movie that was obstacle-laden. I wanted the obstacle to be love. Just because you love somebody doesn't mean it's going to last. This is just two people navigating a relationship, and that's much more realistic."
Metacritic Rating: 70.
Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 79.
Clips: Right here.
Where It's Playing: On four screens, in New York and Los Angeles. It expands to Chicago, San Francisco and other cities on November 4. Buy tickets here.

So, what are you waiting for, people? Go see it! (If and when it's in your city!)
