• The People's Choice Awards, which everybody loves to ridicule, have announced their nominees, and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2" is in the running for Favorite Movie, Favorite Action Movie, Favorite Ensemble Movie Cast and a bunch of other things. We hope the nods will finally get the plucky, overlooked gem the attention it so badly needs. [24 Frames]

• The American Society of Cinematographers will be giving its lifetime achievement award to Dante Spinotti. He's shot everything from "L.A. Confidential" to "Beaches" to "The Insider" to "Wonder Boys" to "Tower Heist." We're pretty sure he'd like not to talk about Brett Ratner right about now. [Variety]
