Taylor Swift Chops Her Long Locks, Crowd Cheers

Our Country

When you're one of the most famous people on the planet, everything you do is documented — even your haircuts. So it made sense that when Taylor Swift became the latest star to embrace the of-the-moment bob, she shared the news with a Polaroid snapshot, a smile, and the comment "Short hair, don't care."

As you can see, the new 'do is fairly drastic for the singer, whose long blond locks were (once) something of a personal trademark. We're pretty sure this is the absolute shortest she's ever gone.

The "before" shot was from just a few weeks ago, at January's 2014 Grammy Awards.

Here's another recent picture of the crop. She really went for it!

But that wasn't all she shared: Apparently, the "Everything Has Changed" singer's big snip snip happened in front of an audience that included British pop sensation Ellie Goulding and it-girl Cara Delevigne. (Guess it was one of those "go big or go home" kind of haircuts.)

It seems Swifty enjoyed her public transformation, because she posted an upbeat video of the crowd cheering her on.

"This is how many people are watching me get a haircut right now," Swift notes as she pans the room with her camera. "We don't do anything without an audience, do we?"

And while there were obviously famous faces in the mix, there was one person who was not present: Taylor's ex Harry Styles. Though some early reports claimed the One Direction crooner was present for the backstage haircut (and video edits with white arrows pointing to some guy with long, floppy locks popped up online as evidence), the speculation was reportedly flat-out wrong.

Even though Harry wasn't there after all, however, we have to declare Taylor's chic bob is a total success. She might not have a boyfriend these days, but she does have a fresh new look. Everything has changed, indeed.
