Next summer, Will Smith will once again don a dark suit and sunglasses for "Men in Black 3." But this time, he'll have a new partner. More specifically, he'll have a new version of his old partner, with Josh Brolin playing the younger self of Tommy Lee Jones.

In the first teaser trailer for the third film, it doesn't look at first like much as changed for Agent J (Will Smith) and Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) in the decade since we saw them last on the big screen. They're still hunting down extraterrestrials on the streets of New York, and they're blanking out the memories of anyone who gets too close to the truth. But apparently, there's more going on inside their shadowy organization than even J knows.

After a mysterious phone call with K, J goes into the office only to be told by his new boss Oh (played by Emma Thompson) that his partner has been dead for forty years. So J has to leap into the past, all the way back to the year 1969. And there he comes face to face with a four-decade younger version of K (Brolin).

Photographers snapped shots of Brolin and Smith filming together back in April, and it was clear that with his hair slicked back Brolin captured Jones' squinty-eyed severity. But the trailer offers our first chance to hear Brolin speak in character, and the Oscar-nominated actor perfectly replicates Jones' hard-edged vocal style.

Brolin showed he could imitate a Texas twang when he played George W. Bush in "W." Brolin has also been in the same film as Jones on two previous occasions -- "No Country for Old Men" and "In the Valley of Elah," -- but they never actually appeared on screen together. The one slight discrepancy with Brolin playing the role of Agent K in 1969 is that Tommy Lee Jones was actually 23 years old at that time, and Brolin is 43 now.

"Men in Black 3" will land in theaters on May 25, 2012. Watch the first teaser trailer below.
